Messengers of the Spirit World | Honouring Lady of the Thunderbirds
The Thunderbird holds immense spiritual power in many First Nations cultures across Turtle Island. Said to live in the highest realms of the sky, it is a supernatural being — the guardian of truth, the bringer of thunder, and a messenger between the Spirit World and the people. When it flaps its mighty wings, it creates thunder; when it opens its eyes, lightning strikes the earth. The Thunderbird reminds us that we are never alone — that Spirit is always watching, guiding, and protecting.
These earrings were created not only to honour that sacred being, but also to honour our grandmother — Lady of the Thunderbirds. She carried this name with pride, and with it, the responsibility of strength, protection, and teaching. She was a master of beadwork, moccasin making, and storytelling — a woman who walked with the power of her name and shared it with the next generations. Her legacy continues through each piece of artwork that bears witness to her memory.
Each earring features a highly detailed Thunderbird design, with intricate cross-hatching patterns symbolizing both spiritual movement and energetic power. The earrings are hand-carved and cast in .925 sterling silver using the traditional lost wax casting method. They measure 1¼ inches in length by ⅜ inch in width (not including hooks), offering a bold yet refined presence. Each piece is fitted with heavy-gauge sterling silver ear hooks for durability and comfort.
The reverse side is inscribed with the title “Thunderbirds,” along with the artist signature and .925 hallmark — marking each earring as a genuine and meaningful creation.
