Personally, negotiating extreme winds while canoeing has been an ordeal within the blunt context of not being an overly strong paddler. Hence, the content of this essay has been rendered from a combination of anguish, discomfort, and necessity.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe result is a collection of practical advice intended primarily for paddlers engaged in backcountry travel by canoe on inland lakes. Many of the concepts discussed are also applicable to sea kayaking, especially the Ewind Route Correction Tool. All topics are discussed from the perspective of extreme wind and wave conditions with a strong emphasis on safety.
