Join us for a special voyageur canoe tour. Depart from The Canadian Canoe Museum’s docks and take part in Parks Canada’s annual Lock & Paddle event.
Rather than a typical tour of Little Lake, this paddling experience takes you through Lock 20 – Ashburnham and onward to the historic Peterborough Lift Lock. You’ll travel with a crew of paddlers in a voyageur canoe, entering the lock’s iconic basin for a lift with an incredible view of the city.
Tickets for this special event are offered at a fixed rate due to its extended duration and unique experience. No senior or youth pricing is available.
About Lock & Paddle
Organized and facilitated by Parks Canada, this event celebrates Canada’s Parks Day with hundreds of paddlers coming together across Ontario and Quebec. It’s a colourful, community-focused experience that brings canoes and kayaks to historic canals and waterways for a day like no other.
Please note: While we are excited to participate and have partnered with Parks Canada in previous years, this event is not operated or managed by The Canadian Canoe Museum. For event details and inquiries, please visit Parks Canada’s website.
Know Before You Go
- For this special Voyageur Canoe Tour, participants must be ages 8+ due to the extended time spent in the canoe.
-
Part of the fun is riding up and down the locks! This means extended time in the canoe with no disembarking. There will be music and a festive atmosphere—but please come prepared to wait patiently in your seat.
-
Bring sun protection, water, and snacks to keep comfortable during the event.
-
Please note the return time is an estimate and may vary depending on how long the locking process takes.
